About this site

Heat Pump Ratings is an independent reference site maintained by Emma Wilson. It reads the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR list of certified air-source heat pumps and asks one question of every product: how much heat does it still list at 5°F, and how does it compare with the units of its own size?

The site has a cold finder, a side-by-side view, a page for each size class, pages for products and brand groups that stand out in the data, and explainers. All of it is generated from the same data file, certified as of October 27, 2026.

Independence

The site is not affiliated with or endorsed by EPA, ENERGY STAR, any manufacturer, distributor or installer. It sells nothing, takes no payment for listings and does not use the ENERGY STAR mark. It gives no cost information and no sizing, installation or purchase advice.
